Welcome to Sauvignon Blanc Semillon - 2023 Vintage!
Our famed Margaret River wine region has deservedly gained a global reputation for Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, and we are delighted these two new SBS releases created from fruit grown on our Margaret River vineyard are as exceptional as we expected.
Our single region sourced Sauvignon Blanc – a grape variety with juicy flavours and fruity aromas – has been selectively blended with our Semillon, a thick-skinned grape with acidity and a silky texture, to create this classic, ever popular Western Australian blend.
Vintage 2023 conditions were the best in over a decade.
Our senior winemaker, Ross Pamment, describes both these bottlings:
Sandalford Estate Reserve 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon
Margaret River
Colour: Pale straw.
Nose: Bright, tropical fruit and citrus aromatics are released first.
There’s guava, blackcurrent and lychee hints alongside subtle grassy notes.
Palate: The flavours are fresh and bright, with balanced soft acidity supporting.
There’s a lovely palate weight and a freshness to this wine which keeps you wanting more.
Serve young, fresh and chilled down.
Notes: With an optimum blend of 84% Sauvignon Blanc and 16% Semillon, the latter lends weight, acid and consistency to this style. A selected, aromatic yeast strain further enhances the fruit’s character and all the elements come into harmony and balance. Enjoy now, or let this beautiful blend improve for up to a decade in its bottle. Grown on Wadandi country, this wine is vegetarian friendly.
Sandalford Margaret River Range 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon
Margaret River
Colour: Pale straw.
Nose: Bright fruit aromas of passionfruit orchard blossom and lemon citrus overlay subtle tropical fruit salad flavours.
A herbaceous note and a hint of lemon grass finish.
Palate: Fresh and juicy with the fruit flavours carried by a lingering soft acidity.
Well balanced and a wonderful length on the finish.
Notes: Cultured yeast, low solids and cool ferment temperatures in stainless steel ensure the fruit’s characteristics are highlighted to perfection in the resulting wine. After fermentation, we allow the wine to evolve on lees for a short time before blending and bottling. Grown on Wadandi country, this wine is vegetarian friendly.
These superbly crafted, well priced SBS style wines are also very versatile with food and are especially good with richer and creamier dishes.
