Tonight's the Night for Sandalford
Following a night of stunning success at the 2019 Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards where the Swan Valley-based winery won two Gold, one Silver and Hall of Fame, Sandalford Wines have announced Sir Rod Stewart will perform a concert in their vineyard in October 2020.
Speaking at the Gourmet Feast in the Valley yesterday which saw thousands flock to the winery over the weekend to enjoy Marco Pierre White, The Rubens, Fergus James, Justine Clarke, Dirtgirl and more, Sandalford CEO Grant Brinklow said it was extremely rewarding to work alongside such a dedicated team.
“I am incredibly proud today. These awards are a testimony to the enormous effort, hard work, care factor, attention to detail and preparedness to always go the extra mile by so many Sandalford team members over a long time.”
Mr Brinklow said Sandalford’s shareholders, directors, executive and staff were united in purpose and spirit.
“Last night’s awards success and this weekend’s well-patronised Gourmet Escape events reflect the long term vision and commitment of owners Peter and Debra Prendiville and their family to the Swan Valley. We are constantly building on our achievements and are looking forward to many other positive outcomes such as future events and completing Sandalford’s redevelopment plans. Our new Estate Room, which celebrated its first birthday this month, was key in securing Sandalford the 2019 Brides Choice Award for Winery Wedding Venue.”
In front of nearly 900 tourism industry colleagues at the Western Australian Tourism awards held at Crown Perth last night, Sandalford Wines received Silver for Tourism Restaurants & Catering, Gold for Chinese Tourism (and was inducted into the WA Hall of Fame in this category) and won Gold for the highly contested Tourism Winery, Distillery & Brewery category. It was the fifth consecutive year Sandalford has been awarded this honor and the 11th Gold in this category in the last 15 years.
Looking ahead to 2020, Sandalford celebrates 180 years since its first vines were planted in the Swan Valley in 1840, 30 years since the Prendiville family purchased the wine business, and will roll out the red carpet to welcome legendary rocker Sir Rod Stewart.

‘One of the most loved entertainers in a generation will play one concert at Sandalford on Saturday 17 October 2020 hot off the success of a world tour which saw Sir Rod sell out shows at the Hollywood Bowl, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and a UK stadium tour,” said Mr Brinklow.
“It is shaping up to be another stellar year. After winning more than 80 major state and national tourism awards in the last 10 years - including the coveted Australian Tourism Award in 2017, we can truly say Sandalford is a must visit tourism attraction. And it will become even more so when our next stage of redevelopment is completed mid year 2020.”
