Sandalford Showcased in Summer's Most Significant Lists
Leading Western Australian wine reviewer Ray Jordon’s newly published Wine Guide 2022 and Top 100 Summer Whites have recognised and rewarded the recent efforts of Sandalford’s winemakers.
Writing up Sandalford Wines in the just released The West Australian Wine Guide 2022, Ray Jordon was full of praise acknowledging Sandalford’s current vintages and their creators.
“Sandalford Wines has well and truly leapt into the big league of premium producers in Western Australia,” Jordan wrote. “The team of owner Peter Prendiville and winemaker Ross Pamment is taking the wine portfolio forward. A visit to the newly developed cellar door offers the opportunity to taste both Margaret River and The Swan Valley, including the excellent 1840 range.”
In the Top 100 Summer Whites for ’21-’22, Ray Jordon included the 1840 Chenin Blanc with a 93/100 score, citing it as ‘a super example of one of the staple varieties of the Swan Valley.” Also in the Top 100, Jordan named Sandalford’s 2020 Estate Reserve Verdelho as worthy of its score of 92/100.
The complete Ray Jordan ratings were:
Sandalford 1840 Range Chenin Blanc 2020 93/100
Sandalford 1840 Range Rose 2021 93/100
Sandalford Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2019 93/100
Sandalford Margaret River Cabernet Merlot 2019 90/100
Sandalford Estate Reserve Shiraz 2018 94/100
Sandalford Prendiville Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 96/100
Sandalford winemaker Ross Pamment said it was a brilliant result.
“It’s particularly pleasing for our inaugural 1840 Rose and it validates our decision to invest in Grenache at Caversham. I think we can make an even better wine next year,” he said.
He added ‘96 points for the 2018 Prendiville Cabernet Sauvignon, from a great Margaret River vintage, is fantastic recognition for our flagship red, …and a worthy investment for all avid wine collectors!”
Sandalford have recently crafted their first exclusive subscription wine club, The Heritage Club, with membership benefits across their estates’ multi-awarded restaurant and wine ranges.
