Sandalford Adds Two Significant Awards for Excellence
The results are in for the 2018 Restaurant & Catering Institute of Australia (WA)
awards and again Sandalford Restaurant has proved its consistency by winning the
categories of Tourism Restaurant (sponsored by Tourism WA) and Restaurant in a
Winery (sponsored by Entertainment Publications).
The Savour Australia Hostplus Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised,
independently judged awards program that recognises exceptional service and
culinary talent across Australia. It provides publicity for hospitality businesses, a
chance to network with key suppliers, and acknowledges the achievements of
Sandalford CEO Grant Brinklow said the Awards for Excellence program provided
deserved recognition to Sandalford’s restaurant and catering staff.
“Our team really excels in their field. We have the same food + beverage crew for
the past 3 years with no management or supervisor changes, and this is evident in
the excellence of customer service which is the hallmark of the many accolades they
have achieved together during this time,” he said.
Sandalford’s Swan Valley Estate provided dining and catering services to more than
150,000 domestic and international tourism visitors in the year ending 30 June 2018.
Grant Brinklow said Sandalford’s restaurant and catering experience starts from the
moment visitors enter their stately gates.
“What sets our product apart and engages our customers is our close proximity to
Perth's CBD, the sense of history, beauty and timelessness of our estate, and the
award-winning quality of our wines, menus and service. We are passionate about
creating dining theatre across our stunning food and beverage venues.”
Andrew Mann, executive chef, brings global expertise and multiple awards to his role
at Sandalford. He has catered to the King of Thailand and was Director of Culinary
Operations at Six Senses Resorts, Thailand, however he says he loves the locavore
aspect of Sandalford’s Estate.
“Around 80% of our menu is locally grown or produced. We even do it ourselves
now – we make a homemade sorbet from our own sauvignon blanc grape juice and a
vincotto from red wine grape must infused with mint and orange which is the star of
our seasonal menu. Customers love the ‘story’ – especially when our staff point out
the grape vines and vineyards these menu items come from!” he said.
The past 12 months have seen Sandalford Wines receive several outstanding
accolades, including being awarded the best tourism winery nationwide in the
Australian Tourism Awards held in Perth earlier this year.
