Ross Pamment Joins Sandalford Wines

 

Sandalford Wines has welcome wine industry legend, Ross Pamment, to its team as Senior Winemaker.

Ross’ love for food sparked his passion for wine more than 30 years ago. When first choosing his career path, he was interested in becoming a chef and as he gained more experience in hospitality, he was introduced to wine.

“When I was 18, I became increasingly interested in learning about wine and I was advised to work in the industry before committing to any tertiary study. So that is what I did; first working in the cellars at Houghton in the Swan Valley before moving to the Northern hemisphere where I worked a couple of vintages in Burgundy before returning to Australia. I completed studies in Oenology at Charles Sturt University, New South Wales, and progressed my career within Australia’s outstanding wine industry,” said Ross.

Over the years, Ross has worked at Mount Adam (South Australia), was an Assistant Winemaker with Salitage in Pemberton (Western Australia) and then moved to Houghton in 1999 as Winemaker. Then progressed to Senior Winemaker in 2009.

He joins Sandalford Wines at an exciting time, as the iconic Western Australian wine producer has recently undergone a multi-million dollar renovation.

The extensively renovated restaurant and bar area is complemented by a newly extended and enhanced cellar door, a private tasting room, huge wood-fired pizza oven and new playground. Total spend was in excess of $3.5 million and has resulted in an exquisite experience for Sandalford customers.

The Sandalford Bar and Restaurant celebrates a marriage of modern Australian and contemporary Italian cuisine where the fulsome flavour of WA’s phenomenal seasonal produce is enhanced by hand-rolled pasta, wood-fired pizza and artisanal products. The bustling, open kitchen creates delectable, healthy dishes destined to delight the most discerning diner, while the restaurant’s tranquil, leafy ambience issues an invitation to relax and indulge all the senses.

Now is a great time to visit Sandalford as some of the 2021 vintage wines will shortly be bottled and available to purchase. Ross recently undertook the final blend of the Classic White and made tweaks to perfect this next release.
