Vintage
2008 was a return to what we would classify as a “normal” vintage in Western Australia. After a hot January conditions moderated to give us a perfect three months of harvest with no disease in the fruit and no inclement weather. The white wines are full-flavoured with moderate acidity as are the reds. Overall an excellent vintage for Western Australia.
Harvest
The fruit for this wine was machine-harvested in February and March of 2008.
Viticulture
The fruit was sourced both from our own vineyards and others in the cooler climate growing areas of the south-west of Western Australia.
Oak Treatment
Nil.
Winemaking Summary
After machine harvesting the fruit in the cool of night it was immediately processed and underwent a long, slow ferment in stainless steel tanks with a number of selected yeast strains. The fermentation was stopped at the desired level of sweetness prior to being blended, stabilised, filtered and bottled in April 2008.
Colour
Pale staw.
Nose
Very fruity and luscious with tropical, stone fruit and some grassy elements lifting right out of the glass.
Palate
A medium sweet wine with complex rich fruit flavours. This wine is recommended for current consumption and should be served well chilled. It is a great wine for anyone wanting something, soft, sweet and fruity and as such will go with whatever food you like. |
