Vintage
2009 will go down as one of the best ever vintages in Margaret River. The cool and slightly wet conditions during the initial growing season led to some yield losses. However, the summer months were again dry and warm without any overtly hot spells. Classic "Indian Summer" conditions then prevailed through in to the autumn months giving perfectly ripened and disease-free fruit with some of the most balanced acid profiles ever seen. In a word, superb.

100% Margaret River
Winemakers Comments
After machine harvesting the fruit in the cool of night it was immediately processed and underwent a long, slow ferment in stainless steel tanks with a number of selected yest strains. The fermentation was stopped at dryness prior to being blended, stabilised, filtered and bottled in May 2009.
Colour
Pale honeydew melon.
Nose
Classic "green tropicals" with guava, lychee and papaya. Very subtle and understated.
Palate
Almost a medium to full-bodied wine with a beautiful palate weight, crispness of texture and lovely fresh tropical fruit flavours which will only develop and become more luscious as the year rolls on. One of the best Verdelhos we have ever made.
Assessment
"Once again the fineness and delicacy of the fruit and acid balance is to the fore from this outstanding vintage. Lovely lingering flavours with a delicious texture. It's fine and delicate with a tropical fruit intensity controlled and kept long and lean with that beautiful acid. 91/100"
