Dear Concert patron at Simply Red’s final ever Australian performance held tonight at Sandalford Estate, Swan Valley,
“Welcome to the final year of twenty five mind blowing years,” said Mick Hucknall of Simply Red’s final shows. “What an adventure it has been!”
Indeed Mick, it certainly has been!!! And I think, without any doubt whatsoever, tonight’s performance by Simply Red at Sandalford Estate, Swan Valley was nothing short of spectacular, and certainly a truly incredible finale to not only the band’s last tour of this country, but, its final ever performance in Australia!!!!
I am sure for you and everybody else who attended, Simply Red’s performance tonight will long be remembered as one of the GREATEST shows to take place at Sandalford Estate, Swan Valley in the 10 years since the first concert was held. And of course in that time there has been many great acts perform here including Spandau Ballet & Tears for Fears, Lionel Richie, Leonard Cohen, Alicia Keys, John Mellencamp, John Fogerty, Ronan Keating, Tom Jones, Carole King, Missy Higgins, Jimmy Barnes, The 52’s and many, many more.
Among the legion of fans who attended tonight performance, it was said that many of you apparently came wondering: “Does Simply Red still have it, or, was this 25th Anniversary tour one for nostalgia?”
As however Tom McTred said of the bands performance in Sydney on October 12:
“The answer is a resounding yes, these guys are unbelievably good. The two things that keep hitting you while the band playing is that Hucknall's voice is as good as it ever was.”
“I'm not just saying he still sounds good, he sounds amazing. All the high notes are hit with power and he also has an incredible range with some deep baritone moments also thrown in.”

“The other standout is the amazing musicianship of the band that is the current guise of Simply Red. The band was on fire with some brilliant saxophone solos in particular from Ian Kirkham (who played alto/tenor/soprano sax as well as keyboards and an EWI (Electronic Woodwind Instrument). Also dazzling the crowd with some great fretwork was Kenji "Jammer" Suzuki who looked to be enjoying himself immensely up on stage, especially when taking centre stage to bust out some nice guitar solos.”
“I won't list all the songs but all the hits were there but the standout was definitely "Money's Too Tight To Mention" at which point the crowd went bananas! Even though a lot of Simply Red's biggest hits are ballads, the show never dragged and it felt like no time had passed when the band finished their set” McTred added.
“All in all, when you add a brilliant band with a wonderful catalogue of songs and a spectacular setting, it made for a magical evening that everyone in the crowd enjoyed immensely.”

Regardless however of what the critics have to say about tonights show, what is much more important to the Sandalford team is just what YOU and YOUR friends, family and colleagues (many of whom were attending their first ever concert here, whilst of course plenty of others are already regular Sandalford concert patrons) thought about the total concert experience (both the good and any not so aspects).
We therefore URGE you to click through to our bloggers comments page at the following link:

Robin Gibb, the voice that set alight a million romances and as many dance floors, returns to Perth for an unforgettable evening of Bee Gees' Greatest Hits at the amazing Sandalford Estate, Swan Valley on Sunday October 31, 2010.
As mentioned above this event will be the 'grand finale' of the month long festival and celebrations held annually in the Swan Valley - 'Spring in the Valley 2010'.
Accompanied by full band and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Australian audiences will experience a show like none other! With a massive production promised, fans can expect to hear all the biggest songs - Massachusetts, How Deep is Your Love, Stayin' Alive, Night Fever, You Win Again, Nights on Broadway, Jive Talking, I Started A Joke, Words, To Love Somebody, New York Mining Disaster and many more!
Of course Robin Gibb is a member of The Bee Gees. The Bee Gees have made an indelible mark on five decades of popular music. Their recording career is phenomenal and after selling more than 200 million albums worldwide, the brothers Gibb have long since taken their place amongst the true legends of pop. They are the fifth most successful recording artists of all time, charted over 60 hit singles, won 8 Grammy Awards, earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, have been made Commanders of the British Empire and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Gibb Brothers' song catalogue is, second only to the Beatles as the most successful in the world. In addition to their well documented smash hits as a group, they have successfully written songs for music artists such as Barbra Streisand, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross and Celine Dion. The Bee Gees' brilliantly crafted songs form the soundtrack to the lives of millions of people around the globe and possess the unique ability to continually capture new generations of devoted listeners.
Robin Gibb's ethereal voice has been a trademark of many Bee Gees recordings but he also moulded his own musical identity with a number of successful solo releases over the last 4 decades. From his first hit 'Saved by the Bell' in 1969 to his NO.1 hit 'Juliet' and million selling album 'How old are you?' in 1983, to his UK Top 5 duet with Alistair Griffin in 2004, Robin maintains a significant presence in the world of popular music.
Bonnie Tyler joins Robin on this tour of Australia, adding another dimension to the evening which will no doubt excite audiences. Bonnie Tyler stormed the international music charts in the late 70s and early 80s with her smash hit songs, 'It's a Heartache','Holding out for a hero' and 'Total Eclipse of the heart'.
Bonnie's trademark vocals have made her one of the most instantly recognisable women in rock and she continues to deliver an awesome live show every time she walks out onto the stage.
Listen here to her radio interview earlier this week on 6PR where she talks about her success and the upcoming performance at Sandalford Estate, Swan Valley:
