RAY JORDAN'S WINE GUIDE

Leading Western Australian wine critic Ray Jordan last night launched the latest edition of highly sought after wine guide at a gala function in Perth attended by leading media, industry and other prominent guests.

I am very proud to advise Ray awarded therein the following incredibly prestigious accolades to Sandalford Wines (Click here to view, Adobe PDF - 3.2mb):

1. PRODUCER OF THE YEAR: “The combination of winemaker Paul Boulden and owner Peter Prendiville has proved an awesome double act resulting in outstanding wines across the board”
2. WINEMAKER OF THE YEAR: “Since taking over at Sandalford a few years ago Boulden has consistently produced outstanding wines, based primarily on one of the oldest Margaret River vineyards. Value for money end seriously over delivers and the new Prendiville Shiraz is a revelation.”
3. BEST SHIRAZ – 2008 SANDALFORD PRENDIVILLE SHIRAZ: “This is just so sublimely smooth and seamless on the palate you could be forgiven missing what power and fruit concentration is sitting behind it. One of the finest Margaret River Shiraz I have tasted. Silky and velvety with a deep complexity. 97 points.”

Each of these are absolutely outstanding accolades and I ask you to join me in congratulating Paul Boulden, his winemaking team, and our superb viticulture team lead by Peter Traeger in achieving such wonderful results for Sandalford Wines. These follow on from the tremendous success our wines enjoyed on the show circuit this year including the recent 3 TROPHIES awarded to the 2008 Sandalford Margaret River Shiraz (different wine to the abovementioned) at the National Wine Show in Canberra two weeks ago and with it the official title of ‘Australia’s Greatest Red Wine’!!!!

These fantastic accolades for our wonderful wines have been really complimented by various awards for our Wine Tourism operations over the last month or so including a GOLD PLATE at the 2009 GOLD PLATE awards, Best Cellar Door and Winery Tourism facility announced at last months annual Western Australian Wine Industry Awards, and the best Winery Tourism Operator in the state announced at the recent Western Australian Tourism Awards.

For a company that next year celebrates its 170 anniversary, it is wonderful to remain at the forefront of Australia’s wine and wine tourism industries due in no small way to very committed and visionary proprietors as well as an incredibly talented, passionate, dedicated and committed team that make up Sandalford’s staff and management.
