THERE are more marvellous WA
2008 Sandalford Prendiville Reserve Shiraz
A bright, lively, deeply coloured and vibrant young shiraz. Sweet raspberry, mulberry aromas; fruit-led but with a lacing of cedary oak. Loads of fleshy extract, ripe tannins and density. A little unready, but it has great potential.
2008 Sandalford Margaret River Shiraz
A VERY fragrant, exotic shiraz aroma, a little reminiscent of France's Rhone Valley, is the first thing you notice in this young Margaret River red. It's so aromatic, it almost suggests viognier in the mix. Red-berry fruit, spice and musky characters lead to a flood of ripe, complex flavours, a smooth, silky feel and fine tannins underneath. (14.5 per cent alcohol; screw cap.) Ageing? Drink over five years. Food ideas Peking duck; fillet steak. Stockists include Docks on the Rocks, Docklands; Purvis Wine Cellars, Surrey Hills.
2009 Sandalford Prendiville Chardonnay
The Prendiville name is yet to be associated with anything other than the finest from the Sandalford vineyards, and for that matter the finest in Margaret River. This '09 chardonnay is an absolute cracker -fine, pure and with enough citrus zip to keep it improving for at least the next five to 10 years.
