2008 Sandalford Margaret River Shiraz |
|
A VERY fragrant, exotic shiraz aroma, a little reminiscent of France's Rhone Valley, is the first thing you notice in this young Margaret River red. It's so aromatic, it almost suggests viognier in the mix. Red-berry fruit, spice and musky characters lead to a flood of ripe, complex flavours, a smooth, silky feel and fine tannins underneath. (14.5 per cent alcohol; screw cap.) Ageing? Drink over five years. Food ideas Peking duck; fillet steak. Stockists include Docks on the Rocks, Docklands; Purvis Wine Cellars, Surrey Hills. |
