Simply Red - Farewell - The Final Tour

Sandalford Wines and Michael Coppel Presents are delighted to announce the Simply Red Farewell Tour!

"Welcome to the final year of twenty five mind blowing years," says Mick Hucknall of Simply Red's final shows. "What an adventure it has been!"

Simply Red's classic pop and elegant ballads have provided an uplifting and emotional soundtrack to our turbulent times. The band will say their farewells all over the world this year, after what has been a remarkable 25 years. Their final show will be at London's O2 Arena on December 19.

"I could never have imagined my career would bring me so far," added Mick Hucknall. "We want to share this closing anniversary with all the people who have enjoyed our sound throughout the years. Celebrate it and gently move on to the second half of a musical story. We all hope to see you at a show somewhere soon."

Since their first tour in 1985, Simply Red have played over 1,100 shows to over 11 million people, notched up over 55 million global sales, over 31 Top 40 UK singles, 3 BRIT Awards, 2 Ivor Novellos, 2 US No.1 Singles and a MOBO Special Achievement.

Simply Red grew out of Manchester and their first UK university/club tour in 1985 and quickly graduated to Europe and the USA in 1986.

By 1987 they had conquered New Zealand and Australia and in 1989 they toured South America and Japan for the first time. By 1990 they had become a true global arena act and continued at that level until this day. Last year's Greatest Hits tour notched up a further 1 million people across the World.

Simply Red has dominated Australian charts from early albums Picture Book (1985) and Men And Women (1987) to the juggernaut's The New Flame (1989) and Stars (1991). The Farewell Tour showcases all their amazing hits including Money's Too Tight To Mention, Holding Back The Years, The Right Thing, Stars, Fairground, If You Don't Know Me By Now, Something Got Me Started, A New Flame and Sunrise.

Simply Red's farewell date in Western Australia will take place at Sandalford Estate in the Swan Valley on Saturday October 23 coinciding with the month long annual regional festival - 'Spring in the Valley 2010'.

Joining Simply Red as special guest artist is Australia's favourite disco diva and celebrated singer, Marcia Hines. With seven top 10 hits between 1975-1981 and hits across four decades, Marcia was a hugely popular inductee into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2007.

She is currently working on a new album "Marcia Sings Tapestry and the Songs of Carole King", set for release later this year. We know her as Australia's undisputed Queen of Soul, stage musical star, chart-topper, hit-maker, dance floor diva and most recently, the voice of reason on Australian Idol's judging panel, but live performance is what Marcia loves best and she is very much looking forward to the tour.

Transport - Swan Valley
We recommend patrons taking public transport to the Midland Train Station. Shuttle buses will depart every half hour from Victoria Street near the train station, between 3.30pm and 7.45pm. The shuttle will return patrons to the train station after the concert from approx. 10pm onwards. Or, Contact Buswest on 9256 3223 or go to buswest.com.au for return transfer services from various locations around Perth.

Parking Details
Parking is available on site at Sandalford Estate Swan Valley however we strongly encourage all patrons to use public transport. Please allow additional time if you are driving and parking at the venue. No parking on surrounding street verges or local residents property (NB Rangers from the City of Swan will be issuing infringements to vehicles parking illegally around the perimeter of Sandalford Estate).

IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE DRIVING, PLEASE ALLOW ENOUGH TIME TO GET TO THE VENUE AND PARK YOU CAR - EXPECT DELAYS OF BETWEEN 50-60 MINUTES IN GETTING INTO BEFORE AND THEN OUT OF THE VENUES AFTER THE SHOW.

Venue Collects
Tickets can be collected at the Ticketek office at the venue just prior to the show, however patrons are urged to collect their tickets prior to showday, to avoid long queues on the night. Tickets can be collected from any City Box Office Collection Point.

Weather
Please note that we play rain or shine. You may bring wet weather protection such as ponchos and raincoats however umbrellas are not permitted.

What you can bring
You can bring: Picnic rug, Picnic hamper, Plastic bottled water or soft drink (no alcohol)

What you cannot bring
You can't bring: BYO Alcohol, Glass, Umbrellas, Tables, Metal cutlery, Tents or shelters, Wine spikes, Video or recording equipment, Professional camera equipment.

Chairs
You can bring deck chairs with you to the concert however those with high backs will be positioned to the rear of the venue.

VIP and Reserved ticket holders:
You will have a designated, reserved seat so you do not need to bring a chair or picnic rug.

Alcohol
Strictly no BYO alcohol and no glass can be brought into or taken from the venue. This is a fully licensed event with full bar service available.

Smoking
This concert is a SMOKE FREE EVENTS. Limited designated smoking areas will be available however smoking is not permitted in any other area other than the designated areas.

Conditions of Entry

• All bags will be searched upon entry and exit of the venue.
• Any prohibited items will be confiscated; and
• All patrons must observe and adhere to the local licensing laws and responsible service of alcohol practices.

Children
Children under 18 years who have purchased a ticket can only be permitted if accompanied by parent, step-parent or legal guardian. If not, they will be refused entry and will not receive a refund on the ticket.

This will be the first event of the 2010/2011 Sandalford Concert Series - one that promises to be the very best yet and our team look forward to welcoming you back to Sandalford Wines for it.
