A Day on the Gree
November 2003
Nationally, "a day on the green" has become one of the most popular and fastest growing outdoor events on the summer concert calendar. Where else can you laze on a deck chair or picnic rug with a group of friends, fine food, wine in hand, kick back and enjoy great music in a superb outdoor location?
Not to disappoint from the success of last year's concert staged for the first time in WA, the 2003 line-up of performers didn't disappoint the record crowd of over 6000 patrons.
The calibre of artists was high, featuring Birtles, Shorrock and Goble (ex Little River Band), Kate Cebrano, James Reyne and Mental as Anything. Patrons listened to the award-winning band of Birtles Shorrock and Goble sing old favourites such as Cool Change and Help is on Its Way while the sun was setting, providing the perfect outdoor concert.
James Reyne proved popular with new material and old classics such as Boys Light Up and Reckless, a hard act follow from Mental as Anything stirring the crowd with songs such as Live it Up and Too Many Times. Kate Cebrano, a seasoned performer at Sandalford re-enacted her charismatic performance given at the inaugural Symphony at Sandalford back in January 2002. There were not too many people left sitting after Kate sung songs such as Bedroom Eyes and Boys Are My Weakness.
